No snow up here , it's mid November and I'm feeling the itch, time to bail out !
The only place that I know has anything is Colorado. I called up some homies, Dan, Dustin, Joel … everyone is too busy to go.
SOLO mission
I packed my bags, hooked up with some realms kids, Ryan Thompson, Matty P and friends and I was ready to ride Keystone for a few days of early season shred. A full 3 weeks before my first day last year, tons of fun, amazing, stoked for the season .

summit looks so fun, i can't wait to be there in 2 weeks. what makes you a pro snowboarder is getting paid from your sponsors for slaying on a piece of wood. and good style isn't just the way you ride, because if you have a whack ass clothing style it doesn't matter how smooth you ride. but on the other hand you can look like you just walk out of some fashion show and ride like shit. i think it's a mixed between dope clothing, good attitude (you know someone who is like-able and approachable because there are some amazing snowboarder who are complete dicks that no one cares what they can do on a board) and effortless riding. p.s. your the man tj

good style is when other riders want to have the same style as you.

Well being pro is like rob said as long as you get paid and get free gear your pro but to me a video part is where its at as long as you have a killer part which these days is almost impossible with all the haters that think they are better than pros in the video, and once again i agree with rob good sytle is dope clothing wether that been tight or baggy pants or whatever effortless riding where it just looks super natural and it all flows, and most importantly a fun loving attitude that shows that they just love snowboarding

style is whatever you want it to be. Good style is whatever you think it is. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The problem is hate, people hate on other people cause they wear "tight" pants or "baggy pants" man who cares! It's about fun!! The art of snowboarding is about love. We all need to rep it! So if you are a pipe jock good for you, if you jib like a gangsta that is sweet, and if you love to snowboard in the same jeans you skate in, good on ya! We should be stoked there are so many styles in snowboarding, cause otherwise we'd all look the same. Express yourself!

Attitude is huge, along with style. influencing others with your riding, and personality. being a mentor for others to follow in a positive way. This can be done through video parts, interviews, photo's, etc...

Pro equals a paycheck.Thats all you need to be pro as far as I'm concerened. By definition if you are paid you are pro. The thing that gets you there is your "style". I think that is a combo of how you deal with people and your riding. You could be the raddest rider out there but if you can't talk to your sponsors or anyone in general about snowboardng without being a co@k then no one is going to want to have you around. You are basically worthless and not ready to get paid. Snowboarding is art. We are the brushes. Some of us are big, skinny,TALL,wack, gangsta, funny, boring, amazing, old, young,or whatever. But we are all trying to paint the same picture. You might like your style better than mine but I'll still have my own fans. I could be a fan of yours and you dont even know it. So why push me away?Say hey to someone every now and again. Get to talking in the liftline. Take a picture together. Help the little guy out on his first day. I had so much fun this weekend and I didnt know one per

"What makes a pro"- In my mind there are a lot of people in the industry today who are classified as Professionals who clearly don't live up to that title for one reason or another. Some one who can ride anything, jumps, rails, big lines, and make snowboarding look fun just cruising around slapping off natural elements. A pro shred is someone that can show up to anywhere, rip that place to shit and keep the home town homeboys ego in check, because just got his joint blown out. "good style" being unique, keeping it real, no tall tee's, tie dye no jerseys, no big chains, danglers or sliders (one piecers) Being creative with tweaking. When i think of good style i think of dudes like Kyle Clancy, Peter Line, guys that keep it really real and make it look fun effortlessly. I'll throw in shane Flood too because he was explosive, i like that hard, fast raw styled snowboarding. Basically anyone that is looks like that are influenced by skateboarding. No pipe jocks allowed..

A Pro is someone for the kids to look up too, not all pros are really pros at the end of the day, it is just a title a label. I'm not going to use the word "pro" but someone who has a positive outlook on riding all the time, who can have fun with anything, anywhere in the rain even on a sloppy blown out day and show the kids some fun things along the way, thats human being who deserves a paycheck, but its not all about the money. I got a lot of friends who are marked by the industry as PRO shreds, yet they work shitty jobs and get a small pay out for a travel budgets, and struggle to film a video part. These guys rip the hell out of anything and can hang with the top names in snowboarding, its their love and passion and commitment that coined them as pro shreds. They lit their ass on fire one day and never let it go out. Go style.. Good style is being your own person, being an individual, a creative mind. Good style is anyone who can say they had fun on a snowboard.

What makes someone a pro snowboarder...is primarely in the way they present themselves. I have met a few big shot pro's in my time and the strongest/raddest pro's are the ones that truly leave an impression on you. On the way they present themselves to you and their actions. J.P., Bjorn, and Devun Walsh, are all good examples of this. You see them in public, on the slopes, wherever. Those three All-Stars won't make you feel like a tool, they are stoked that your out there. Anyways, style is a different subject, its about making difficult moves look easier. The guys with the best style, make the toughest anything look easy and fun. The best examples of this, in my opionion are Joe Sexton, Mike Casanova, and L.N.P. for rails - street and Travis Rice and Gigi for backcountry.

Good style is only obtained when the snowboarder isnt trying to have good style, he/she is just being themselves and just having a good time, doing what their´re doing, snowboarding. by the way is that knut the same knut eliassen that is in Pony Tale? sick video TJ, I love the episodes, gives me something to look forward to. thanks

I'd like to throw out a clarification on paid pros. In my opinion a "pro snowboarder" is someone that gets paid to snowboard through endorsement deals with legitimate snowboard brands, and is marketed by those brands - only. Over the years I've heard so many cheezy dudes tell girls at bars that they're a "pro snowboarder" or worse, cheezy girls tell me that their friend / boyfriend/ friend's boyfriend / etc., is a "pro snowboarder" only for me to go, "who!?" when they tell me their name. If you're a "level whatever" snowboard instructor, lifty, sharp shooter, park crew, summer camp worker, shop employee, ski town snowboard bum, or make money some other way on your snowboard, it doesn't make you a "pro snowboarder." Perfect example is that "jesse" dude on the bachelor tv show, or the other dude that dated Lindsay Lohan. These dudes are claimers. I've never seen one ad of them from any legit company.
