Year after year, we can always count on Travis Rice to stir snowboarding’s pot instead of letting it sit stagnantly and simmer, and this past season was no different, as his winter exploits boiled over and catapulted him into our 2008 Rider of the Year spot. As well as Travis’ selection as our-top shelf shredder, his two-year film phenomenon That’s It, That’s All hit stores harder than Hurricane Katrina, reinventing the snowboard film genre and raising the status quo for those who steady a video camera for a living. And let’s not forget Rice’s ruthless contest control, as he took home trophies at the Nissan X-Trail, the Icer Air, and his own Quiksilver Natural Selection. Since Travis’s breakthrough season post-Breck Superpark, he has upped his game even more, and should now be considered a contender for a much bigger and bolder designation than our 2008 Rider of the Year; we’re thinking he just may be the most progressive rider ever. To strap into Rice’s board and slip into his clothes, head over to snowboardermag.com/upforgrabs and feel what it’s like to be the king shit.

Why do I deserve the freshest gear from SnowboarderMag and Travis Rice? I have no clue. I'm finding that the longer I snowboard the less I desire a "fresh new kit". For the past 6 of my 12 winters on a snowboard I've invested more time in the mountains and less money in my local snowboard shop. Sad, I know. I'm not going to try to convince you that I am an amazing rider, but if you want to know that this gear is put to good use day after day, I can assure you that it would be! I would look pretty and save some money that would usually be allocated towards epoxy, super-glue and duct tape. Thanks! -Josh Renz Bozeman, MT

Why do I deserve some fresh gear? Because im tired of spending more on doctor bills and emergentcy room visits than my gear. I've been riding the same tattered M3 discord since i started boarding and have to deal with its rough edges(literally)on a daily basis. My rough apperal makes me a target for every mountians ticket checker, so new threads could help me stay under the radar on those days when my finances don't allow me to ride legit. Well my friends would appriciate me getting my own gear so i don't heve to borrow theirs all the time. thanks, Bearcat

1. I ride a 157. 2. I got laid off on my birthday, now I'm broke. 3. Travis needs to make up for blowing me off after Snowscrapers in NYC. 4. Despite #3, I'm still a huge fan. Travis is the MOST BADASSEST rider! 5. I followed the rules and wrote this in 50 words!

I'm always having bad luck and im always the one getting shit canned. I live in north jersey where the snow fall is just as shitty as todays economy. Everyone I know goes west or north and my close friends grew out of riding and took up other hobbies.

I don't think I could say anything that's gonna be different than anyone else that would make you give me this awesome gear. So all i'm gonna say is that I would really love to have it. Well that's all so peace out. and Rock on

I bought a brand new set up to have it stolen from me two weeks into the season. Then dropped my college spending money that I worked for on another setup that was robbed out of my garage. Please save me from getting dropped by my girlfriend, like Travis drops cliffs, now that I’m broke.

Hi I have recently discovered how quickly gear falls apart when you go up the hill every day. already this year I have almost 50 days on my pass of hard shredding and my kit is falling apart. Ive already replaced my pants once this year and I'm running low on cash. Because of this my wardrobe consists entirely of free shirts and value village clothes. some gear would be greatly appreciated at this point. Congrats to whoever wins this though I know there's lots of people who need this more than me

Winning this gear is crucial to my career. You see, I work at a brothel in a ski town and more often than not I have young lads come in requesting a "Shred Betty". The meaning of this term is foreign to me, however; I was directed to this site. Thanks for your help with my life aspirations.

T Rice is the man. His gear is the best. That pic is of the DC Status boot, not the Judge which is listed under the boot.

I deserve traivs gear above everyone cause.. well I dont really but it would be super rad to have some new threads and a new deck to ride with. I can't afford to buy a new snowboard and the one im riding now had a cracked tail. Thanks snowboarder mag!

Listen up, I’m stuck in a small town you haven’t heard of and only a few bros ride. Travis has been a total icon to me ever since I’ve been riding. I’m filming like mad this season and this hookup would look dope in the footy, got any gnarly boots?

I am actually trying to win this gear for my best friend. He is an amazing rider and actually just tore his acl riding this year at Mt Snow in Vermont. Travis' gear would be the perfect gift for him to get him stoked for shredding the mountain next season. It would be the perfect way to raise his spirits and to keep the love of the sport alive.

Travis Rice is the man! I just recently had back surgery and getting some new gear would be killer! I didn't get to ride as much this year than years before because of my back. I am an instructor at my local hill and I missed most of the season. Thank you for the chance to win and for a great magazine!!!!

I think i desrve Travis Rice's gear because he is my idol. Actually the truth is i probably dont desrve it as much as some of the riders out there as my best trick so far has been a frontside 360. But Travis Rice is my favorite rider along with Jeremy Jones and it would be so cool to win his gear. I would wear the stuff everyday and watch thats it thats all while i wear it. Im only thirteen but his stuff would fit me which is soooooooooo awsome! Plus im not even old enough to get a job so i have to wait till my birthday then im flippin burgers at MICCY D's to pay for some new gogs. Anyway i dont want to waste your time so ride hard and im always gonna be Travis's biggest fan.

This gear is really nice. i am really hoping that i win this gear so that i can actually snowboard for once. instead of having to work for a week to buy a day pass with rentals i can just hit the slopes with my new gear and really step up my game. right now i dont even have enough money for a computer so i am at a local library. If i won this gear i would save up my money to help other people who have the same problem i have right now. i would try to start a group that goes to local resorts and see's who deserves new gear the most. i would then save up money along the side and have fundraisers to surprise the snowboarding enthusiast with some new gear!!!
