White Noise with Louie Fountain

Louie told us "your intro made me look cooler than I really am." We disagree Louie. You're really cool, and so is this photo. Photo: Brian Craighill

Arguably one of the most well-versed snowboarders to ever slip on a stick for a living, Louie Fountain can do it all. In the snowboard-video uprising that was Robot Food Productions, Louie stuck out like a sore thumb from this atypical crew, making it obvious to the masses that his snowboarding was serious, but not to be taken too seriously. In the trio of films that followed, Louie and his fellow Robots created a new genre of snowboard film, while suggesting to their viewers that the basic fundamentals of snowboarding were nothing without the fun. Louie’s genuine personality and cheerful nature are uplifting in a world of “over it” pros, but Louie is just a happy guy who appreciates the opportunities he’s been given and wants to keep the good times rolling. Here, he gives you a sneak peek at the music that keeps him sane before he straps in and goes crazy.

Josh Ritter, “Mind’s Eye.” His music has soul—kinda like how you feel when you ride powder.

Cool Down
Lauryn Hill, “War in the Mind.” Heavy lyrics, but true. Sometimes a good dose of reality is what I need...

John Denver

Pre Après
John Denver, “Thank God I’m a Country Boy.” It makes me count my blessings and get stoked on the simple things.

Make Out Medley
Believe it or not, I don’t have a make-out medley. How about a new category called “Love Song,” and I’ll go with Nena’s “Just a Dream”—it’s totally awesome.

Best Video Part Song
Travis Parker’s part in TB8. Modest Mouse’s “Heart Cooks Brain,” mostly because of the riding and the rest of the music in the video; it stood out a lot.

Guilty Pleasures
Nirvana. Northwest grunge rock. There’s a time for it.

Buy it on Nirvana - Nevermind - Smells Like Teen Spirit

Turn It Off
Rap-rock, grunge-rap, Kid Rock-kinda stuff.

Buy it, or don't, on The Rock Stars - A Tribute to Kid Rock & His Roots - Cowboy
