Jake Blauvelt is on his way to becoming the North American Nicolas Müller. Raised on the cold hard slopes of Vermont, Blauvelt first found his calling in the pipes and parks of the USASA Green Mountain Series, eventually capping off his East Coast contest dominance with a 2004 US Open slopestyle win. Since these successes, Blauvelt has migrated west to Washington and planted his roots in and around the Baker area. Focusing more on the fresh and less on the leaderboard, Jake has amplified his aerial ability to new and improved heights, and developed an innate knack for sniffing out the natural features that Mother Nature offers, rather than pre-built Park Bully step-downs. If you’re jonesing for more Jake, you can witness Blauvelt’s boardin’ in Forum or Against ’Em, and for all you freeriders looking for a free ride, go to snowboardermag.com/upforgrabs to win Jake’s kit.

I think I should get this gear because I simply love snowboarding and everything about it. I think about snowboarding every day and it would help a great deal if I had some new gear. I work all summer and during school just to have enough money to snowboard. I live out of my car to cut back on gas emissions and save money. I'm trying to save money for a trip to alaska and this gear would help a great deal. See ya on the slopes. thanks

I dont think i deserve to win this stuff more than anynone else does. but it would be way rad if i could. lately with the economy, its been really hard to get a season pass. i worked all summer to get it but did not have enough to pay for any new gear. so still sportin gear from a few years back. im still in high school and dont have much time to work between school and the mountain or else i would to buy some new stuff. but winning this contest would be really really helpful towards getting new stuff and not wearing my ripped up gear and chipped snowboard. so if i would win this it would mean more than you know. Peace

I need this gear I been snowboarding 5 yrs. It takes me all summer to save up for 3 trips a yr. Reason being is that I have to hide the money from my lovely girlfriend. And if I spend what little money I do make on snowboarding gear I will be a single man. Now I love snowboarding but come on!

I worked all summer to pay for my pass, I have the most ghetto gear, Because my parents are broke and I can't afford it. My gear is getting dangerous, I was tryin back 7's down at shasta last year, and my edge came off on the landing of the table cause me to ragdoll and get a concusion. I don't have any gloves right now, they got stolen from the lodge last season, my pants are ripped, my jacket is well worn, my goggles are 4 years old, no anit-fog left in em, really scratches lenses, stretched out strap. My boot's liner is ripped, and the tounge is ripped, my bindings are actually decent, i broke my highbacks, so my parents found enough to get me some bindings. So, it would be REALLY nice to get some new gear. Thanks for your time.

Snowboarding is by far my absolute most favorite thing to do! and would be ever more fun if i never had to use beat up rentals. I been snowboarding for quite a few years now and have yet to know what it feels like to board in my own gear. Would mean the world if i could ride somethin other than rentals and much more if it were Jake Blauvelt's gear!! Thanks a million

| I personally believe that i deserve this gear, because i have tried my hardest just to buy a season pass. I worked all summer long. But now i have no gear but my old stuff. Im a growing boy and i have grown out of all of it. And yes i understand that there are allot more kids out there who need it just as bad. but please just think it over. thank you. | I think I should get the gear because I lost both of my legs in a unicycling accident back in '93 so I can't snowboard anymore. Having that gear would really make me happy cause it would prevent some tool with a bullshit sad story, covering up the fact that he's too stupid and lazy to get a higher paying job, from getting a free handout. P.S. Forum Sucks Balls |

Let me put this simply, I live in Ohio, and it seems to take snow forever to get here. Being new to the sport I've taken some lumps and bumps along the way, and so has my setup. At the end of last season I was actually starting to show some promise while strapped in. Since last season ended well, I've felt like a crack head who hasn't gotten his powdery fix... of snow I mean. Since snow is on it's way soon I'll be able to fix this twitch and ride some switch. The only way to sweeten the deal would be to win this sick gear from the guys who make my bathroom reading more than just the shampoo bottle.

I would love to win this because ive had the same shit for the last 7 years and my forum slider system broke so now im pretty much screwed. I'm going to Colorado with the snowboard club at my school and I really need a board.

This would be amazing to win because mainly ive been riding the same set up for the past 5 years and its getting pretty beat up. I have a job at a mt in maine and am looking to perfect my skills this season and this set up would definitely help in more ways than one.
Posted Sat Nov22, 2008, 2:18 AM By Matt S.
I think I should win because I have to be in Iraq all season so I wont get to snowboard at all this year and this would make it a little more bearable. But I suppose I dont deserve it anymore than anyone else. I'm here from my own choice. But like I said it would be a huge morale boost to take a break from war and think about the shreding I would be doing if I won this gear. That and I love snowboarding :)
Posted Sat Nov22, 2008, 11:39 AM By Chris C
Why I believe I should win- First and foremost I love snowboarding, I have the passion for the sport that will really appreachiate the gear. Personally I have trouble financially to purchase the new snowboarding gear so this wouold be an amazing opportunity. In addtion I also took the time in researching Jake Blauvelt because I think if people expect to have his gear they should know a little about him (such as where he is from Waterbury Center, VT, USA) but I wont fill this up with any more info. The bottom line is that I love snowboarding! and dont have the money to purchase gear like this on my own, I wanted to learn a little about who's gear it was to know who we get this opportunity from, therefore I believe I should win the contest. Thanks :)

Winning this contest would help me out in so many ways. Ive been snowboarding for 6 years now and i still havent been able to afford any of my own gear besides boots. I love the sport and i know my passion for it will last my lifetime and if i can, onto my kids' life as well. I am a Jr in college right now getting a degree in civil engineering with a job hoping to save enough to keep me out of debt when i finally graduate. Snowboarding is the only release i get during the winter from the hardships of life in general. Let alone all the work and school i am trying to balance. This past summer i finally made enough money to get a snowboard and some nice gear but i was forced to get a car instead due to school and the job. Now im afraid my trips to the mountain will be limited since i am forced back to renting, and thats why winning this board would help me out so much. It would help keep my sanity from school and work by letting me take a few more trips to the mountain this winter.

snowboardermag you rule, I know once you start snowboarding you're stuck with it for life.Being a full time 11th grade student there's no time to work + board. despite the drain on your finances, snowboarding has to be one of the greatest gifts a person can be given and that why I need this!

Can I have your gear so I don't feel obliged to nab some gapers new xmas stick? it would be of course a LAST RESORT- but my santa cruz is falling apart waiting for santa claus (btw he doesnt come to my hood lol) |

Alright, alright..I ride 5 hours for the first run of the season. I get there its pouring rain. I forgot about the apoxy'ed nose of my board. As soon I take off bamm face plant. Alright i'll just do a manny down the mountain. So i get use to the feeling. Bombing shitty jumps, eating mad snow cuz my board offically hates snow. There is nothing smooth about a board like that. Skeetchy hits, rails are pimp, but the landings not. How can you get stuff done, when the board under your feet is a BIdlskfhlsdakfjsdCH!!!! YOU CANTTTT so hook me up? Or land on me while taking your run, your pick?!?

i belive i should win this beautiful set of gear simply because i am a begginer. i have only been snowboarding 3 time and have fell in love with the sport. i would go to the slopes alott more but i have to rent my gear right at the moment cause i am one of those poor country boys who can barley afford the lift ticket. Winning this board would be one of the best things to happen to me, and hopfully would help me be well on my way to being better at the sport that i have came to love.

I seriously need this gear. I had a board awhile ago but some idiot came and snatched it. I guess my loss is better. PA doesnt get much snow anyway. Still it would be so rad if I got this stuff. I"d finally be able to ride again or atleast look the part. My allowance is worth crap. It would take about 60 weeks to get a cheap board and thats more weeks there are in a freakin year. If I won it would be the highlight of my lifes run

Well its December and the snowboarding season is finally here! Hopefully sometime during christmas break i can get up to our local mountain ski sundown or maybe up to vermont. However, ill really need to save money for a day trip cause i have no board to ride this year. at the end of last years boarding season i had my new rome artifact stolen outside of mount snows lodge. it was one of the worst expirences of my life. with my mom just losing her job and my dad really having it rough lately, i just feel awful asking them about anything that has to do with snowboarding. if you could please hook me up with this gear not only will i have a set up to ride but i will actually have a jacket and snowpants that fit me. Im sure im not the only person in a rough situation this year for boarding but if i dont get this gear, i hope that someone else deserving does, cause i know there are plenty of kids out there in need. thanks for the opprotunity snowboardermag, i would love the hook up! :)

I could really afford all this new gear because the board i have now is falling apart and i out grew it. Hopefully you pick me and make me a very happy man. i would really appreciate it |

This isn't the first time you've been on mushrooms. Hey Jake, My name is Nick, and your set up is so sick. I have started to become a fan when you were starred in the Forum YouTube movie, "That funny Stuff". I was just at home one day sitting in front of my computer and awaiting the next snowfall so I could hit the new pow. There is only one problem, I don't have any equipment yet. I have been renting my equipment since I was 5 (I'm 16 now), and I just don't have the money to purchase one yet. I have been focusing on my studies, and have not had time for a job to buy this equipment. I have the largest passion for snowboarding. When I go to college, I am making sure that it will be close to a mountain resort. This set up would change my life. I am ready to pack my bags, and live the life of a all-time snowboarder. I have been rated an intermediate to advanced snowboarder, so you would not be at all disappointed with my ability level. Well, thanks for the opportunity, and I ho

(continued)...and I hope you make the right decision on who you choose. Your style of gear suits me perfectly, I would do anything for this gear. Oh ya, Jake, you've got balls. Some of those tricks you do are super dope. If I were to become a featured professional like you, I would seem to follow in Nicolas Müller's and your footsteps. Both of you are my all-time favorite snowboarders because there is a certain style you put into your moves. You have inspired me to go all out when I ride. This opportunity that you gave anyone really shows how cool you are. Anyways, I hope you at least consider me into this give-away. -Nick

well to be honest life is at a low point right now for me being that I was just diagnosed with type 1 juvenile diabetes insulin dependent, but shreddin down a slope, or shredding on a board period helps me to be free of it all, It seems like everytime I turn around I have some doctors appointment to go to and medical bills to pay so buying a new shred stick right now just isnt in the cards for me and if I won this, it would help with dealing with all the insulin injections, finger pricks, bulls**t doctors, monitoring what i can eat and drink, and the list keeps going anyways the magazine is sick and I would love to rock the new gear.

This gear is really nice. i am really hoping that i win this gear so that i can actually snowboard for once. instead of having to work for a week to buy a day pass with rentals i can just hit the slopes with my new gear and really step up my game. right now i dont even have enough money for a computer so i am at a local library. If i won this gear i would save up my money to help other people who have the same problem i have right now. i would try to start a group that goes to local resorts and see's who deserves new gear the most. i would then save up money along the side and have fundraisers to surprise the snowboarding enthusiast with some new gear!!!
