SNOWBOARDER/ThirtyTwo Enviro-Mental Giveaway

SNOWBOARDER Magazine and ThirtyTwo have teamed up to outfit your feet with boots from JP Walker and Leanne Pelosi.

SNOWBOARDER and ThirtyTwo are at the forefront of leading environmental initiatives in the snowboard industry, and we want to hear what you do to help save our winters.

Follow this link and tell us what you do year round to ensure that the snow keeps piling up in those long-awaited winter months. The best answer from both a male and a female will win a pair of the boots JP Walker and Leanne Pelosi rock. And remember, the greener we think, the more turns we’ll link.

Here’s a quick review of the boots you might be donning, by the “Don” himself, Mr. JP Walker:
“I really like the Prospect boot for one reason----it's simple. It’s also lightweight and super comfortable. I can put [them] on at 6am and leave [them] on until 6pm without even flinching. The sole is flat with a low profile for maximum feel of the board and the snow; a mandatory feature for handrails. The boot is not overly stiff which helps with comfort as well. It’s got everything it needs and without any gimmicks.”

And Leanne gives you a little feedback on why she rides for a company that supports environmental initiatives, like those that ThirtyTwo has undertaken:
“They’ve been making changes throughout the company to reduce their carbon footprint, like adding solar panels to their headquarters and saving 250,000 gallons of water each year----that's 2.5 million bottles of beer! It's nice to know that my sponsors are making a benchmark within our industry, and hopefully the trend continues on, so that we can have boots, boards and outerwear that are earth friendly.”

I gave my boots to a child that couldn't afford boots to go snowboarding, but needed a pair pretty bad. I'd rather have to spend the money on a pair of boots then to not have a little grom be able to snowboard.

To make sure that snow stays on the ground. We try and make sure that we drive less around the hill, and we try and take as many pople as we can and car pool, so it dosn't pollute the air as much too make sure there will be snow next time we go.

This summer I rode my bike to work, trails and grocery store as much as possible, which is most of the time. At work I made a recycling trash can where there was't one before, submitted to management that they start a bike to work program and as a bicycle tech I purchase biodegradeable chain lube and degreaser for our bicycles. I also camped out all summer, which I would imagine leaves a low carbon footprint. This winter I will live at or near a resort or if I have to commute I will carpool. I will also carpool to go ride elswhere. When I purchase new wax it will be Purl all natural wax. Go Purl! Save our winters and Planet!

I am one shred in a powpow decreasingworld. I turn off my lights, unplug my electric cords when not in use, and I ride my bike all year long (going to college at UVM in Burlington). Lol. Winter bike rides are lame but these boots would make my feet warmer when I ride my bike to the mountain shuttle. ;)
