Ready: Absinthe Premiere in SLC

What can be said about this Absinthe movie that hasn't been said in years past? Gnarly backcountry lines, all out pow kicker destruction, some damn progressive street moves, and a soundtrack with something for everyone. Hostynek and his crew killed it again this year with the release of their new movie Ready.

The world premier went down Saturday night in SLC at the very hip Tower theater on the corner of 9th and 9th. Tickets for the show were sold out at all the local shops early in the day forcing the theater to sell a limited number of standing room only tickets at the door.

Before the show, the crowd out front of the theater bulged out into the street. A few pro boarders from the movie were on hand passing out high fives and a bit of free swag. Salt lake's infamous art fags Dave Doman and Simon Larsen were posted up under the Celtek tent pumping out custom Celtek hats which were a hit with kids, riders, and filmers alike.

When everyone finally squeezed into the theater and shut up, the movie began. Ohhhhhs, Ahhhhhs, and an occasional sarcastic Boooo from the crowd started the intro off right. It was clear that last season was a serious one for the Absinthe crew. The cast of riders looked like this: Nicolas Müller, Gigi Rüf, Kevin Pearce, MFM, JP Solberg, Romain de Marchi, Scotty Lago, BJ Leines, Mikey LeBlanc, Jeremy Jones (big mountain), Annie Boulanger, Keegan Valaika, Matt Beardmore, Matty Ryan, Nate Bozung, Wolfgang Nyvelt, Cale Zima, and Chris Coulter. Hammers were dropped from start to finish, off cliffs, giant cheese wedges, down chutes, on handrails, over handrails, across damns, you name it...it got shredded in Ready. There were quite a few standout parts throughout the film, but i wouldn't ruin it for anyone.

After the curtains dropped the crowed erupted with applause, kicked their empties under the seat in front of them and headed to the after party at SLC hot spot Club Orange. Local shredder/DJ Kuncklz spun the jams all night as filmers, boarders and fans got a chance to mingle over some adult sodas. Good times were had by all.
