South American Snowboarding:
Getting Some in Summer

Now that the first day of summer has passed and your snowboard has collected a little dust in the garage it’s time to think about how your summer will be spent. At this point you’re either embracing summer with all its sunshine glory and BBQ delights that make summer....summer. In other cases you’ve made your way to a summer camp in the Northwest, USA or the Blackcomb glacier in BC, CANADA and are really sweaty and sunburned.

If you’re really looking for some serious winter though make a plan to head to ARGENTINA or CHILE in SOUTH AMERICA. The Andean Mountain range has jumped off with a banging start this year and snow has been falling non-stop all this month.

Resorts in South America generally open mid June and as of recent they are all reporting massive snowfalls in the Northern and Southern regions of the mountains. The season runs through to October in most areas so you’ve got lots of time to head south for a winter experience that you’ll never forget.

Both Argentina and Chile offer a wide variety of resort options for all budgets and skill levels. The high alpine in the Northern areas of both Chile and Argentina will make you into an ex-pat in a flash on your first powder day. The mystique of the volcanoes and untamed Patagonia region to the south will engrain itself into your memory forever.
