Someone out there got some powder this week…. Maybe today… maybe yesterday and probably tomorrow…
The South American season is stacking up week after week and snow has fallen North to South on all the resorts in CHILE and ARGENTINA. Anyone who arrived at the dawn of the season is laughing all the way to the powder bank.
Reports are piling up in my email inbox with news of, but not limited to; Portillo chutes, Valle Nevado powder-goodness, and Bariloche madness….
As new riders flock to CHILE and ARGENTINA you can be sure these experiences happened to one or more Gringo(foreigner) snowboarder since their arrival in SOUTH AMERICA. (read below)
It’s a common fact, first timers:
1: Arrived in Santiago CHILE, without knowing any Spanish, and were lost on their way to the Bus or Train Station.
2: Had no idea how the currency worked and spent too much of their budget in one night out.
3: Drank too much Pisco that night and swore off drinking Pisco for at least 2 days……
4: Within the same night drinking Pisco, thought their Spanish was amazing, only to maybe have gotten “HOLA” (hello) down perfecto…. Everything else was Gringo Spanglish…...
5: Danced all night at the UFO in Las Lenas and missed first chair the next morning. Meanwhile, a mirror image of themselves, is committing the same mistake in Bariloche ARGENTINA, almost 800 km to the south.
6: Have left upset, wishing they booked a longer trip.
7: Are eating beef steaks and loving it!! (Vegetarians are none too pleased)
8: Wish they had brought more gear to sell to the locals.
9: Are sending emails like mad in little internet kiosks…. Which are all over CHILE and ARGENTINA.
10: It’s a common fact, first timers from the Northern Hemisphere will exclaim, ”CAN YOU BELIEVE IT’S SUMMER AND WE’RE RIDING POWDER!!!!!”
David Owen from POWDERQUEST TOURS sent up some photos and info showing the latest Snowboarding conditions in SOUTH AMERICA …
