Camps: Ruling the Americas

Camp counselors Kyle Cartwright and John Pape, who hail from Breckenridge, CO and are a part of something they call “Team Scene,” and between the campers, coaches, and counselors of SASS have been teaming up to rule the Americas. The following is Kyle and John’s perspective relayed to me in some crazy jargon about the current status at the camp in Las Lenas.

The campers have been learning mad new tricks of all sorts, increasing their riding skills like mini-Shaun White’s. Some of the tricks include new poma moves (see photos), frontside board slide full to 270 out, and Wildcats off everything large and small. Damn it is good to be shredding!

In a breaking news story, the SASS winning streak at the casino has been uncovered. Turns out Coach Andrew “w/ The Moves” Burns has been dating the roulette dealer, ah yeah boy! That explains all the free drinks and the comped rooms!

Along with the usual slashing of endless powder almost every single day on hill we have been learning new dice games – slaps. John Pape is addicted to the Argentine Coca Cola, drinking it at least five times daily. Cheetah head bands are all the rage in the land of summer powder and are a shreds mark when heading to the out on the town. Ladies be on alert! How every mid-80’s huh?a guaranteed chick magnet like never before in the states, well maybe in LA during the mid-80’s.

John Sang and Andrew Burns have been added to Team Scene, so look for more stories to unfold in the next several posts. And finally, and most important if you love food, “Asado” is Spanish for barbeque, which produces the best meat in the world, no joke… insert private joke here.

Until next time, keep thinking about the fact that right now you could be slashing powder for two weeks straight in Argentina, and experiencing a whole new culture with gorgeous guys and girls, a crazy nightlife, amazing food… oh and you get to learn some Spanish too, so kids, that is how you pitch it to your parents!
