Camps: MGT On Snow!Leanne Pelosi
The first on-snow day for the MGT Girls Session kicked off today on the Blackcomb Glacier. 32 girls made the trek under skies that threatened to unleash huddle-in-the-lunch tent weather but the clouds parted, sunbeams appeared and rip-shred fairy dust was sprinkled on everyone. Considering most girls have not ridden since April it was advised to take the morning easy but progression could not be restrained and girls began pushing their limits left and right. “My girls definitely pushed their limits today” says MGT coach Joanna Majcherkiewicz. “I unknowingly sent them into a field of death cookies and they shook it off, laughed it off and charged. They’re troopers! I’m adopting all of them.” Jacqui Berg’s, Leanne Pelosi’, Amber Stackhouse, and Dominique Vallee’s groups were seen trickin’ all over the place with spins, tech jibs and looking good in general. Also lookin’ good was Priscilla Levac who made a guest appearance and despite ringing her bell on the kicky 50’ kicker of kickass gnar she kept on riding much to the glee of on looking campers. But the Human of the Day award goes to an anonymous skier who made a solo descent of the grassy terrain beneath the Solar Coaster chair almost 1000 feet of grass, rock and roots to navigate. For those not familiar with the process of summer snowboarding, you take several chairlifts from the glacier, over sketchy bushy terrain, before reaching Whistler village. But no chairlifts for this champ. He took the chair heckling in stride and had some fresh tracks in thigh deep grass. Turns out the skier was Camp of Champions ski coach Lief. Leave it to the pros, kids.
That sums up the first on-snow day of camp. 3 bottles of sunscreen down and at least 10 to go. The girls shred invasion has only just begun so check back as the MGT Girls Session secret after-camp activities are unveiled in the next update.
