Kimmy Fasani Drops By SNOWBOARDER's Office for an Interview
Until recently Kimmy Fasani was among a vast legion of forgettable female pros who couldn’t quite figure out how to find their way to the top tier. Always hard working and skilled Kimmy just never stood out from the pack. During the winter of 06/07 all that changed. Once she switched from Burton to DC a fire was lit and from her first major showing The Vail Session Jib event, it was on. Finishing her season with a standout MS. Superpark performance Kimmy earned a much needed rest. Currently she is packing her bags for a tour of NZ and Australia with her DC teammates.
After spending some time as a rider on the verge what changed this year to bring you to the next level?
This year I had a better mental game plan. I knew what I wanted and I was going to try to make it happen. I just realized how much I loved snowboarding.
What was the highlight of the season for you?
I would have to say joining the DC team and Ms. Superpark were the highlights of my season. Having the DC guys as motivation made me work hard and have fun at the same time. Ms. Superpark gave me a chance to display how much of a great time I was having all season.
Which girls did you get to ride with the most?
I rode with Silvia Mittermueller a bit in the early season and then again in Japan. Molly Aguirre and I ride together whenever possible, as well. This season I really I spent a lot of time cruising solo though.
What film did you work on this year?
I worked with Float, and it was an amazing experience. John Roderick is an extremely driven filmer and he gave a lot of us girls a great opportunity to film with him this year.
Any special plans for next season?
I want to gain more back country experience, and film again. Travel around with the DC team and get a better grasp on contests.
