Wachusett Mountain kicked off the early season mayhem with a killer pro rail
contest. The first Annual East Coast Invitational brought out a heavyweight field
of jib competitors to the cold slopes of Massachusetts' favorite snowboard
destination, Wa-Wachusett. It was so sick, and freakin' gnarly. Thanks to the
boys at Eastern Boarder, in particular BUB, the whole thing went over smoother
than P-Tex on plastic ... speaking of P-Tex on plastic, the rail setup, built by
East Cast Dirt Mike King, was anything but dirty. These rails were clean and
super-smooth.
The boys were vying for $10,000 in cash. Mucho props to Salomon and all the other
sponsors who got the purse into the double digits! And extra props to Salomon
dawgs Kale Gray and Emanuel Krebs who handled the RIDER-JUDGED format, making
sure all the scores were tallied.
Add the women's purse of $2,500 and that makes over 12 Gs on the line … sick,
right? Here's who showed up: Justin Bennee, JP Tomich, Shane Flood, TJ Schneider,
Max Henault, Brian Regis, Sylvain Beauschene, Laurent Paquin, Wil Lavigne, Max
Legendre, (French Canadians RULED IT!) plus, Brad Gauley, and a dozen or so other
buzzards who braved the cold and threw down to a cheering East Coast crowd. For
the ladies, Colleen Quigley made the grade ... and in the end, Quebecois' Laurent
P, of skintight pants/SugarShackMovie fame took the cake for the dudes, with
Flood in hot pursuit in 2nd. It was a rad event and sure to be back on for next
year. Peep the vid by local filmers Landon Pallian and Phil Santoro by clicking
