X Games 12 Women's Slopestyle Finals : The Mustache Brigade

I knew something was up when I saw Leanne getting on the sled with what looked like a mustache and goatee combo. Before I knew it I was cornered between the ESPN camera and Anne-Flore who was equipped with a black sharpie and coming right at me. I had officially become part of the "Mustache Brigade". Basically we were a clan of girls backing each other up, even though we come from different sports, we are one big happy family. At the bottom of the slopestyle course mustaches were everywhere!

Spencer O'Brien came out of the gate swinging with the first run of the day, setting the pace for the rest of the girl's final. Claudia Fliri was the first to rise to the occasion and take the lead from Spencer. Jamie Anderson, last year's winner, followed Claudia but could not put a solid score together to defend her title.

When Claudia's second run bumped her score up, Jamie must have known what she had to do... For some the pressure is an unnecessary challenge, but for Jamie it just seemed to fuel the fire as she pulled together an amazing last run. Killing it with a cab 7 on the "money booter" in front of her entire family and the X Games crowd. The crowd's cheer was agreed on by the judges as she ended up with the highest score of the finals so far. Cheryl Mass was the only one left to go, unfortunately for her and fortunately for Jamie she fell. Jamie did it! A repeat GOLD. Claudia Fliri took Silver and Spencer O'Brien took home Bronze with that first run of the day.

Jamie Anderson has set the stage for a three-peat in winter X Games 13. When Jamie and I were younger we talked about getting Golds in the same year here at X Games (hers for winter and mine for summer) and last year we did it. We never talked about getting repeats or even three-peats but I definitely feel some pressure for this summer. The final results were...
