Superpark has always been about the future. By incorporating never before seen features with the most progressive riders in the world, the event has reached mythic proportions. With The Launch SNOWBOARDER has taken this tried and true formula and opened it up to the Superpark standouts of tomorrow.

For four days Northstar-At-Tahoe is playing host to the best thirteen to seventeen year old rippers in the world. Obviously the exclusive features and next level talent is what makes this gathering so “super” but it is what the event is lacking that is really making an impression on these impressionable shreds. For most of these kids this is their first experience in true snowboarding camaraderie outside of their normal crews. Up 'til now these riders hadn’t had an opportunity to ride together sans contest bibs or the stress of sponsor photo shoots. Now they can ride, laugh, progress and realize that they are all kids having fun on a snowboard much like themselves.

Now that the human interest story is out of the way we can get back to what Superpark is known for, insane action. While these kids may be small their skills are huge and they ride with a style beyond their years. Socal's midget mafia is out in force shredding the jibs while Mammoth's Village Crips have bagged some of the biggest airtime Northstar has seen all year. Midwest mighty might Kyle Mac is only ten years old but his airs are triple overhead. Another Lower Peninsula loc Zeppelin Zeerip has been raising the bar. Zep’s andrechts four feet up on the tree jib were definite crowd pleasers. Not to be outdone, Washington’s Austen Sweetin was shifty bonking the same tree and reverting back in 270. Tahoe’s own Johnny Lazzareschi has been on a tear as well jibbing every feature up top and frontside double tail grabbing the entire hip. Far from local is Jye Kearney who traveled all the way from Australia to send ‘er on the hip. Jye: Australian for six foot tall fourteen year old snowboarding badass.

While there is constant chatter among our sports gatekeepers about how style, soul and fun are scarse commodities these days. If The Launch is any indication of where our sport is headed, than the sky is the limit.
