"THANKSJIBBING" WEEKEND PROMISES ACTION-PACKED SCHEDULE
11/25/03 - Press Release
Budweiser Hi-Fi Concert Series Debuts with Fingertight
Aspen Mountain will be the center of the "new-school" universe on "Thanksjibbing" Weekend, Saturday, November 29 as some of the best ski and snowboard athletes in the world challenge the 26-foot wall at the base of Aspen Mountain. The day will feature the chance to meet Team Aspen/Snowmass athletes and then see them and other select athletes ride the wall during the first concert in the Budweiser Hi-Fi Concert Series at the base of the mountain with Columbia recording artists Fingertight.
The public is invited to meet the members of Team Aspen/Snowmass including former world extreme champion Chris Davenport, X Games Superpipe Gold Medallist Gretchen Bleiler, Olympic Bronze Medallist Chris Klug, X games competitor Steel Spence, and Olympic Halfpipe Medallist J.J. Thomas. The athletes will be at the Guest Service Center on top of Aspen Mountain at 11 a.m. for an hour of skiing and riding with the public. They will be at the Sundeck restaurant at 12 noon for lunch and from 2-3 p.m. they will be in the Lower Gondola Plaza for an autograph signing session.
"This event will showcase the evolution of the sport and its synergy with cutting edge music," said Chris Davenport, team Aspen/Snowmass member. "I think the energy created will be off the hook."
After a day of skiing and riding, gather at the base of Aspen Mountain for the Thanksjibbing Wall Ride Exhibition and the first concert in the Budweiser Hi-Fi Concert Series featuring California's high-intensity post-punk rock n' roll band Fingertight. Athletes will ski or ride down Little Nell before hitting the biggest wall ride ever built. The exhibition and concert will take place starting at 6 p.m. under the lights at the base of Aspen Mountain.
Two other bands have been confirmed for upcoming concerts in the Budweiser Hi-Fi Concert Series. On December 28 the Riddlin' Kids will perform in conjunction with the Bud Light Big-Air at Snowmass and on January 23 The Offspring will perform in Aspen after the 2nd annual Aspen Rail Revolution.
