Roxy Chicken Jam 2008
The most dynamic year in women’s halfpipe history culminated on Saturday March 29th at Mammoth Mtn. California with the TTR Six Star Roxy Chicken Jam.
While Gretchen Bleiler was absent from the field due to commitments with her upcoming Snow Angels event in Aspen, Kelly Clark, Torah Bright and the rest of the best women’s pipe riders in the world made the start.

Standouts included Canada’s Sarah Conrad, whose technical switch tricks set her apart, Dom Valle with alley-oop backside rodeos, the cripplin’ Kjersti Buass, and Cheryl Maas who is a straight up psycho on snow. Cheryl set down Haaken flips on the first hit but it was her full throttle alley oop McTwists that left the biggest impressions. Also noteworthy is the performance of slopestyle specialist Jamie Anderson. Jamie has been making inroads into the competitive halfpipe scene this season and in Mammoth her runs included McTwists and alley-oop andrechts verifying that she is a legitimate double threat on snow.
As has been the case time and time again on the pipe circuit, the Roxy Chicken Jam finals turned into the Clark and Bright show. Torah combined amplitude with tech tricks like cab sevens to take the early lead. At the onset of the third run it looked like the Aussie, goofy footer was assured the victory. With only one chance left to bridge the gap, Kelly Clark found her form and threw down. Her ten foot plus straight airs were intertwined with stylish spins and when all was said and done Kelly was victorious in her first Chicken Jam outing.
With Bright not taking home the win the stage was set for a slopestyle showdown that would determine who would leave Mammoth with the overall women’s TTR title and the 50g’s that comes with it. Anderson needed to win to seal the deal. Despite good slope showings from Claudia Fliri, Erin Comstock, and Cheryl Maas, Jamie Anderson emerged the victor and was rewarded with a mid five-figure payday. A dangerous amount of money for a 17-year-old hellion from South Lake.
Results:
1. Kelly Clark
2. Torah Bright
3. Kjersti Buass
