Burton Am Series: Boyne
The 5th stop of the Burton AM Series brought us to Boyne Highlands Resort in the great state of Michigan. I have to admit most of us on the event staff were a little apprehensive about this stop not knowing what to expect, however this is the place that turned out one of Burton’s own team riders “Danny Davis”. As soon as we arrived after our three day / 2,300 hundred mile drive we knew it was all worth while from the friendly resort staff, the uniqueness and charm of this year round resort community, and most importantly the enthusiasm of the local rippers eager for the opportunity to showcase their stuff in the Burton AM… The Slopestyle event was held on Saturday in Highlands terrain park, which consisted of a small step down to start things off out of the block and then 4 multi-feature sections and a quarterpipe to finish off your run. The Halfpipe event definitely favored the agile “pipe specialist” who can rip in varying conditions. First place finishers at the Burton AM Series walked away with a guaranteed spot into the US Open in Stratton, VT – March 17-23, 2008 along with $1000 cash and a Burton snowboard. Second place took home $500 cash, Burton bindings and Anon eyewear, while third place finishers secured $250 cash and a Burton bag.
