Best weather so far today in Whistler at Grenade Games 5. Yes, thankfully it was all sun and fun for the highly anticipated pipe finals. Standouts today were aplenty. Sammy Luebke was still going higher than everyone and I think I saw him about fifteen feet in the air grabbing serious crail. Louie Vito was killing it putting down stylish moves across the board and even went as far as a frontside 1260.
And onto the winners—Crusty Dustin Craven earned the third spot with massive smooth airs and helicopters alike. Guillaume Morrisett who was riding consistent as hell and putting solid lines together rounded out the second spot. But coming out of nowhere (actually he came from Calgary) was none other than TJ Schneider who walked away the victor. We caught up with Teej briefly after his win and what did he have to say? “My girlfriend is going to laugh at me when I tell her I won a halfpipe contest”! Well she may be laughing but we’re stoked, congrats TJ!
Check out the photo gallery linked up, and we’re pretty sure you can expect a Grenade Games 5 spot check with TJ on an upcoming episode of his very own Snowboard Realms, which you can watch on this very site. Tomorrow evening it’s time for the Monster Air event down in the Village. Who will win? Will we be able to sneak by without credentials? Will Cody Dresser cash in his Golden Ticket and go for the switch back seven? Will Lucas Magoon actually loose his mind and go postal on the crowd? What will Kevin Casillo wear? For answers to all this and more, get back with us tomorrow!
