Forum or Against 'em Premieres in Portland

Without exception all the stars of the movie were present and accounted for—Peter Line, Jake Blauvelt, Jake Welch, Stevie Bell, Eddie Wall, Joni Malmi, Travis Kennedy, Nic Sauve, Pat Moore and newcomer John Jackson. There were two showings of the movie, we caught a few complimentary beverages and the first showing around eight something alongside a select handful of Portland’s finest snowboard enthusiasts.
I’d put down about four premium beers before the show had started, and failed to visit the rest room before hand, which resulted in a stressed out viewing of the movie, luckily this would be my second serving as I had already feasted my eyes on the movie a few weeks prior at the Forum headquarters in Irvine, California.
Pat Moore opened the movie with a hell of a part. Pat might be the hardest working snowboarder we know, and he settled a lot of shit this past season, and may have closed down a few spots. Pair that with a heavy Slayer track and you’ve got a hell of a first part.
Peter Line literally dusted off his snowboard and came out of the woodwork with a full part and arguably the most anticipated part in FOA. Peter got creative in the streets of Quebec, and turned it up a notch in the bc as well. I was almost as stoked to see Pete back on the big screen as I was to see Peter’s Colon back in SNOWBOARDER Mag’.
Though he may have been a little bummed on the lack of airtime that made it into his part, Stevie’s stuff was really good and he definitely stepped up. He had some serious rail moves, a guest voice over from Family Guy’s Peter Griffin, and he introduced the spit afterbang—next level shit for sure.
Recent SNOWBOARDER cover boy (September 2008) Jake Blauvelt closed things down with a two-song ender that blew doors. Aside from a beasty fall on a park jump in his intro, Jake’s part was 100% natty backcountry, no cheesewedges, and barely even pat downs. It’s rad to see Jake doing exactly what he wants, and it was apparent that he had the time of his life last year.
All the snowboarding in FOA was legic (legendary/epic), the post-production work and the intros to the parts were really well thought out, and executed to a T. Hopefully you have some idea of what to expect but that’s just the tip of the iceberg so you’ll have to get out there and watch it for yourself. They say a pictures worth a thousand words and I figure there’s about a billion frames in the movie, so that will do it much more justice than reading about me watching it. Drop into your local retailer and snag a copy as soon as they hit shelves if you want to have your face melted off by sick snowboarding. Trust us, you will be stoked—fact. Also check out forumsnowboards.com for more premiere dates in a city or country near you.
Thanks to Knox, Rose, Keller and the rest of the crew for having us out and putting on a hell of a show. And congrats to the cast and crew for putting together another timeless shred flick for the ages. You guys killed it.
