Founded by Etnies’ philanthropist Pierre André Senizergues, 32 Boots is dedicated to making the highest-quality snowboarding footwear that money can buy, while putting forth a Herculean effort to deplete the carbon footprint they leave behind with every product that rolls off the line.

ThirtyTwo Enviromental Stats

  • 32 adopted a 2-mile stretch of Hwy 395 near Mammoth Mtn.
  • 32 boots are made of 100% synthetic materials and are 100% animal-friendly.
  • 32 uses local material suppliers, reducing the need for excess transport, and thus reducing the amount of CO2 they leave behind.
  • 32 utilizes STI Evolution foam in their boots, which leaves little to no waste.
  • 32 sponsors a veggie-powered vehicle at High Cascade Snowboard Camp.
  • 32 introduced eco-friendly items to their apparel line this year, including merino wool socks and first layers, recycled polyester windbreakers, bamboo first layers, and T-shirts made from recycled plastics.
  • Longtime 32 spokeswoman and SNOWBOARDER’s 2006 Female Rider of the Year Leanne Pelosi says, “They’ve been making changes throughout the company to reduce their carbon footprint, like adding solar panels to their headquarters and saving 250,000 gallons of water each year—that’s 2.5 million bottles of beer!” Leanne rides the Focus BOA, and she’s proud to back a company that considers environmental awareness to be paramount. “It’s nice to know that my sponsors are making a benchmark within our industry, and hopefully the trend continues on, so that we can have boots, boards, and outerwear that are earth-friendly.”

32 transcends the environmental mindset, making it a company-wide philosophy, and they’ve recently said that they hope to be completely carbon-neutral by the year 2020. Though a heavy claim when considering what goes into making snowboard boots, they have the drive and ability to erase the mark left in their wake. Besides, they’d sure be bummed if they had to change their name to “32 Sandals” down the road…

The manufacturing of a single pair of snowboard boots creates more waste than one would think, what with all the foam, molding cements, and wasted pattern fabrics. Aside from reducing this excess, 32 has taken the following initiatives that help reverse whatever damage they cause, which is truly remarkable, and to boot, truly awesome.
