Battle Wounds-Broken But Determined

By April Fuller

Last season the resort I worked at held a pond skim for spring break. I didn't think I would make it across, but I decided to try anyway. I didn't want to walk around all day in wet pants and it was spring in SoCal, so I wore my bikini with some board shorts. When I took my turn, I sank in the water, just as I expected. What I didn't expect was for my top to come up and expose my chest. It took me a minute to realize what had happened. I was embarrassed at first, but I got over it and spent the rest of the day watching everyone else.

A different time I was trying some new snow bikes that were brought to the resort for the employees to demo. I ate it hard the first run, pretty much went over my handle bars and face planted (which is nothing new to me, I have done it many times on street bikes). Determined to try to get it, I attempted to get on the lift again. The problem was that I didn't position the bike right, so it pulled me off and I landed in the mud (it was spring, so it was really muddy). The worst part was I worked there and everyone knew me, so I was laughed at for days.
