2010 Best of Test: Boyne Mtn Stop

The Zaugg halfpipe at Boyne Mtn. Ready to shred.

The 2010 SNOWBOARDER Magazine Best of Test snowboard review is underway. Recently we attended the on-snow demo at Boyne Mtn, Michigan. SNOWBOARDER attends on-snow demos across the country to obtain snowboard reviews from shop employees to get their feedback on next years boards. We tabulate this on-hill data to determine the top rated snowboards of 2009, 2010. The top three snowboards and top female board from all the on-snow demos receive the Best of Test award in our September issue.

Boyne Mtn is quite possibly the best place to test snowboards. Why, you may ask? With 500 feet of vertical terrain, it's own snow guns placed every 50 feet up the hill, and home to North America's first 6 person high speed chair you can knock out a ton of runs on consistant snow in no time at all. This week was not your ordinary conditions in Michigan, rather it was more like a day at Bear Mtn or Mt. High, in that it was super warm & slushy. A pleasant change from the endless winter Michigan has been receiving this year.

Boyne Mtn's new carpet lift. A first in North America.

Lots of boards were ridden, tons of great feedback provided, and a few boards rose to the top. We can't leak more info than this, you'll have to check out the September 09 issue to find out which boards have been awarded the Best of Test.

Visit www.boyne.com for ticket/pass pricing, directions, and more info.

You can never own the Snow but you can try as hard as you can to tame it.
