UP FOR GRABS: Enter to Win TJ Schneider's real Snowboard Gear
The column that started with the ultimate BJ giveaway has now become the ultimate TJ giveaway. (And no, we aren't talking about free donkey shows, churros, and chiclets.) This month, SNOWBOARDER is dispensing the used gear of Alberta's most artistic riding son, TJ Schneider. By forsaking the Canadian snowboarding circus that is the Whistler/Vancouver area in favor of the more subdued shred possibilities afforded by the hills surroudning his Calgary home, TJ has shown that there is more to North of the border boardin' than Montreal jibs and brandywine booters. Check out TJ alongside fellow Albertans Dustin Craven and Scott Shaw in Capita's inaugural team video FIRST KISS this Fall. The following gear is what TJ used and you can win. You better appreciate it, because we had to convince him not to donate this stuff to his local homeless shelter (like he does with most of his used gear).

Capita Midlife Artist, 155
"This is the board that Capita’s owner, Blue Montgomery, lets me pretty much have control over. I wanted to make a board that was good for bigger guys that don’t want to ride a bigger board. With a little wider waist and some deeper shoulders, this board rides bigger but handles like the little gem it is, perfect for hitting the park and pipe or throwing a mean BS melon grab toeside turn. It also comes in a 51 for jibbing and a 58 for pow days. I love this board."

Union C4 Elite
"I was lucky enough to be one of three riders that got to ride this binding this season. Light as a feather, great looking, and amazing response. This is by far my new favorite binding."

Sessions TJ Schneider Limited
"I hate when you like something [but] it is too baggy or too tight—I want kids to be able to ride things how they like them. With a fast and easy lacing system, you can customize your gear to how you want to wear it. Just tie a little noose and make ’em tighter or take it right out and run ’em a little gangsta. It’s all up to you!"

Sessions TJ Schneider Limited
"Just like my pants, I wanted to make something everyone could wear. Not everyone is like me, but everyone likes to make their gear fit them without having to drop an extra hundred bucks at the tailor."

Oakley Crowbar
"I love these goggles. I don’t really know what to say about them other than I love them. Straight black with the Fire lens was perfect for Superpark when I was hitting the jumps. When I was on the rails and the hip, I was repping some shades. I like riding in sunglasses, and it’s nice to know that the Oakley lenses won’t smash into a million pieces when you bounce your face off the ground."

DEFCON TJ Schneider Scrambler Mitten
"Shaka pocket—need I say more? Probably not, but I will. This is the brainchild of a chairlift ride up with my friend Ben. I wanted to throw a mean shaka to someone doing something cool but my mitten wouldn’t let me without taking my shit all the way off. Problem solved. The shaka pocket also doubles as a great vent to get your gloves as dry as possible on those days when you’re shredding so hard your hands start to sweat."

Helmet: Bern Baker
"I just started riding for Bern this season. A lot of parks in my area are helmet-mandatory, and also a lot of contests are making riders wear helmets (which is a great idea.) We should all learn from Chris Dufficy and be smarter and protect our heads out on the hill. Some will say it’s not cool, but neither is brain damage and never snowboarding again. This season, Bern will be featuring one of my designs on the Baker Hard Hat. This hard hat will help protect your head and looks good, too."

Airblaster Leg Bag
"My leg bag is tie-dyed. Peace!"
Boot: Deeluxe Rough Diamond
"This is my first attempt at designing a boot, and I really like how it came out. With extras like optional stiffeners, you can make this boot fit your style of riding perfectly. Also, the SCL lacing makes getting in and out of your boots sooooo nice and fast."
