2004 DTR - Bear Mountain, CA

Fresh off our victory at Mtn. High earlier in the day, we rolled into Big Bear Lake, CA, and up to the winner of the best place to park the RV contest: in front of the bar. Chad's Bar I believe it was, home of the California Cougar. We had no trouble meeting ladies at this establishment, in fact we narrowly escaped seduction. When you are the hunted you must outsmart your predator, as we did in showing the underrated maneuver known as the 'dissapearing derilict.'

I was awoken by what was an apparent 23-point turn by Senor Lopez into the parking lot at the base of Bear Mtn. Resort. After some Cornuts and a Red Bull, my boots tied themselves and we were shredding quicker than you can say 'hotdog hangover.' What I saw were girls with lots of makeup, kids in Levis and a few early morning drunks; all snowboarding. This mountain caters to the snowboard and those who choose to do so. I couldn't find a line down the hill that didn't include a jib, a jab, a pipe or a poke. Believe me--there is no better place to polish your style. The park staff has done an incredible job in creating all kinds of terrain for every level of rider. Bear Mtn. is already the runaway winner of the best snake run and an early contender for best overall park.

Meanwhile back at the RV: Today marked the inaugural 'Putt Putt Challenge'; a contest that would make Danny Noonan proud, and because of yesterday's mob scene, the caution tape also made its first appearance. With the massive turnout, three separate rounds were held to determine the King of the Green, the winner walking away with a fresh new DAKINE backpack. As if the golfing was not heated enough, the product toss turned into a vicious battle for survival. Fortunately the Alfa Male was outsmarted by the hoards of scavengers who came away with the goods. Well, hair grows back, scabs heal and we're of to Vegas to beg, borrow and deal.
