ON THE COVER: Hans Jangaard knows where to go at Stevens Pass when the white starts piling up, and he capitalizes on a waist-deep Washington day, landing himself his first cover with SNOWBOARDER.

“This day consisted of epic spring conditions rare to the NW. A few locs and I had been shredding Seventh Heaven and Cowboy Ridge all morning until the March sun grew high in the sky, turning all the pristine pow into heavy sludge. At this point, we headed to a secret zone which patiently waits in the shade all day. Upon arrival, I remembered this half-buried stump jump my buddy and I had hit before. I called “drop!”, and this was the outcome and the end to a perfect day at Steven’s Pass.”

ON DECK: Curtis Ciszek

“Curtis Ciszek shouldn’t be getting an On Deck. Not because he doesn’t possess the chops to deserve a designation dedicated to his skill on a snowboard, but because he’s has been on the scene for almost half a decade, and we’ve been blowing it. ”

People ask me why I like snowboarding so much. I ask them, is there any place they know of where they can go and be totally free of all worries, all fears, all pressure, all magnitude, and just be free. They look at me blankly and I say, that is snowboarding to me.
